John is a Seattle native. As a youth, he was a 3-year member of the Washington State Select Team. He attended Blanchet High School and went on to play Division 1 soccer at the University of Washington, where he was a 4-year letterman. John received a number of awards during his collegiate career including being named Captain and Most Valuable Player. John was twice named to the All Conference team and twice named to the All West Coast team.

After college, he played professional soccer for 5 years with the FC Seattle Storm during which they won a league championship. He played professional indoor soccer with the MISL Tacoma Stars for 2 years. He finished his professional playing career with the Seattle SeaDogs of the Continental Indoor Soccer League.

John has an equally extensive career in coaching. He has served previously as a coach at Emerald City Football Club for 10 years. John has coached several of his older boys’ teams to the finals of their respective state championships. John also has served recreational players for 13 years in CYO and 7 years in SYSA member clubs. He has coached 3 years in the Liberty High School Boys and Girls programs and 4 years in the Lakeside High School Boys program. He holds his US Soccer ‘B’ License.

John is a teacher in the Seattle School District with over 23 years experience. He and his wife, Annmarie, have 3 boys. All three boys played their premier select soccer in Seattle.
